Link Building: “Technique of the Castle” for more performing backlinks

I promised you: here is the often cited Castle Technique , one of the techniques I most frequently apply during link building campaigns .
Before explaining how the technique works, allow me a clarification: I was recently told that some serial guest post sellers, including a couple of my former customers, have been advising their customers to proceed in a similar way to what I will show you for some time. right away.
The fact that they suggest my techniques flatters me, even if - of course - they are careful not to mention me.
I have nothing against it, let them do it, but you who read, know that this modus operandi has a name and is "Technique of the Castle" and was conceived and developed by Max del Rosso , or by myself .
What is the Castle Technique?
The internal push link technique , also known by many as the castle technique ( "baptized" with this name by SEO colleague Daniele Cerutti, one of the first to have had the opportunity to know it, apply it and test its effectiveness), is my link building technique which consists in giving greater importance to the guest post that contains the link to your site.
This technique, if correctly performed, allows you to obtain more performing links than the links obtained through the publication of the classic guest post (by the way, here is a guide on how to write strategically useful and performing guest posts).
For example, by applying this technique to guest posts published on low / medium trust sites (for example those that I find in the 30/50 € range) you often get better results than those obtainable with the classic single guest post published on sites from the cost much, much higher . Seeing is believing.
Iter of the technique
We proceed by publishing at least 4 articles on the same site , but when possible also publish a greater number.
The first article we will call main and it will be the one that will contain the link to your sit o. The other 3 articles we will call "secondary" and will contain internal links to the MAIN article.
The main must be a pillar article of at least 1000 words while the three secondary articles can be even shorter, even 700/800 words .
The main will have to link your site using a 7/8 word anchor phrase that contains the keyword you want to push .
An example of a correct anchor phrase could be “article on how to contest the fine notified beyond the deadline” where the words “how to contest the fine” represent the keyword you want to push .
The three secondary articles must link the main article using all or part of the title of the Main article within the anchor text .
The fundamental aspects for the correct application of the technique are 3:
The theme of the Main article
The main Article must NOT deal with the exact same theme of the page you are going to link but must instead deal with a theme related to it.
For example, if you have to link this page you absolutely NOT have to write a guest post on " How to make custard " .
Remember that the link to your site must be seen as an advice to be able to deepen something that the main article has only minimally covered or of which it has only made a brief mention.
The Themes of the secondary articles
The Three sub-articles will have to be optimized on related topics and keywords related to the MAIN article .
Satisfy the Search Intent
It is of fundamental importance that ALL the articles , both the main and the secondary ones, are optimized to satisfy search intentions related to long tail keywords composed of at least 4 words (better 5), preferably with search volumes in the 1000/5000 range. month)
Practical example of application of the "castle technique"
Here we can see a practical example. The final parts of the URLs reveal the titles of the articles and make us understand the topics covered.
- https://www.xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.com / the-deadline-for-notification-of-the-fine /
- Anchor text: "article on how to contest the fine notified after the deadline"
- https://www.xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.com / fine-for-speeding-with-speed-cameras-when-you-can-contest /
- Anchor text: "the deadline for notification of the fine"
- https://www.xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.com / fine-red-light-costs-deduction-points-and-notification /
- Anchor text: "the deadline for notification of the report"
- https://www.xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.com / fine-for-failure-to communicate-driver-data-at-the-time-of-the-violation /
- Anchor text: "the deadline for notification of fines for violation of the highway code"
The above procedure is also useful for "reinforcing" guest posts already published in the past. In this case we will limit ourselves only to the publication of "secondary" articles with internal links to the guest post.
This, among the various link building techniques , is the one that I have used most frequently in recent years because it has always given me satisfaction, moreover the last 12 months of tests have given me the opportunity to further improve it thanks to the adoption of a couple of small tricks that made all the difference in the world in the tests.
